Safeguarding & Welfare

The Academy is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and working to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all in our sport. A copy of our Safeguarding Policy can be viewed via the Policy page of the website.

As part of our commitment, we have brought together a team of highly qualified Welfare Officers to support the club’s pledge above and should you have any Welfare concerns, these can be brought to our Welfare Team with complete discretion and confidentiality.

As a club, we have also invested into a club Mental Health First Aider. Please contact the respective officer directly, should you have any Mental Health concerns.

Tracy has over 35 years experience working with children in private settings, local authority settings and schools. She has extensive experience with safeguarding and the role of a Welfare Officer making her a great lead Welfare Officer for our team. Tracy can also be seen around the gym several times a week given her role as Head of School at The Academy Nursery School.

Youth Mental Health First Aider
Jeff Kincaid

Jeff worked as a Police Sergeant for over 30 years. Following his retirement, Jeff took an interest in youth sports and came on board as a Gymnastics Coach, completing his Level 1 and 2 courses with British Gymnastics. Alongside his coaching role, Jeff completed the relevant training needed to now serve as our Youth Mental Health First Aider. Whilst still a Director of the club, Jeff no longer coaches and can be seen visiting the club regularly and fulfilling his responsibilities of his role above.

Positive Coaching Award

All of our Lead Coaches have enrolled and taken their British Gymnastics Positive Coaching Award.

Duty to Care

All of our squad coaches have achieved the UK Coaching Duty to Care Badge.
